The Connecticut Technical High Schools follow the same schedule as the other schools in their town for delayed openings or cancellation due to weather conditions. Students coming to a tech school from surrounding towns must depend on their town’s transportation system to deliver them to the school.

Inclement weather day reminder: Abbott operates independently but will typically follow Danbury Public Schools. Announcements regarding closing are made as early as possible and will come via Urgent Alert on Parentsquare, followed by Instagram. CT news outlets are notified after that.

If your home district is delayed or closed but Abbott is open, your transportation will follow whatever your district is doing. Tardy or absence due to delayed or no transportation in your district is excused. Please notify Abbott.Attendance@cttech.org by email (please do not call the school or send messages to Mr. Durkin or assistant principals) if this happens. If you can provide your own transportation, that is great.

If your local district closes early due to weather, your child will be released from Abbott early. Bus riders, drivers and parent pickup (in that order). Students who ‘get a ride’ from someone that lives in a town dismissing early, will not be released until their town is released.  This means you will either need to be prepared to take your bus or have an alternate way home.  Early dismissal is only allowed if the town you reside in is closing.

Dismissal notes are expected to be sent to Abbott.Attendance@cttech.org by 7:30am.  If notes are received after that time, there will likely be delays with the dismissal as all dismissal notes are approved by an administrator.
