I graduated in 2004 from the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning program. While I was there, I chose to specialize in the sheet metal fabrication aspect of the trade. Beginning my sophomore year, I competed in the Connecticut SkillsUSA sheet metal competition. That year I placed second. I continued to compete and finished first both my junior and senior years. I placed fourth both years at the national competition in Kansas City. To me, it was a great experience and would recommend it to anyone interested in pursuing their trade. Where I excelled in shop, I also did well in my academic courses, graduating second in my class. Upon graduating, I went to work at Carmine’s Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning to do sheet metal fabrication. My job involves fabricating ductwork for our installations, be it a complete system or a few fittings. I also work with different metals to make specialty projects for our customers and basically anything that can’t be bought from a supply house. Today, I am still working at Carmine’s, doing what I do best.
